The American-Scandinavian Foundation is seeking applicants for the following open positions. Please note that for all positions you must be eligible to work in the United States.

Membership Coordinator

The American-Scandinavian Foundation seeks a Membership Coordinator to oversee all aspects of its membership program, including member relations and outreach, planning and processing renewals and new memberships, membership development and promotion, maintenance of the membership portion of the Netcommunity Spark web platform, and content and editing of the quarterly newsletter. The Membership Coordinator also supports the work of the Director of Development in maximizing charitable giving from the membership and carrying out special events for donors, trustees, and members.

Candidates must have in-depth knowledge of Raiser’s Edge (or a similar fundraising/ membership database), skill with Microsoft Office applications, and one-to-three year’s membership or related experience.  Strong written and oral communication skills, good organizational skills, the ability to work cooperatively and creatively with members and staff, and the ability to coordinate and attend periodic member events are also required. Knowledge of Scandinavia preferred. BA required.

Administrative Assistant for Training & Internship Program

The American-Scandinavian Foundation seeks an administrative assistant for its Internships & Training Program.   Responsibilities include reviewing intern applications and assignments, assisting interns and trainees during their stay in the U.S., preparing instructional materials, culture guides and report forms, managing monthly cultural events for program participants, overseeing administrative fees, maintaining the database, working with various universities in Scandinavia and various U.S. businesses and U.S. government offices.  Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, solid database experience, sound judgment, ability to handle responsibility; ability to compose correspondence clearly, organize systematically, reassign priorities as necessary and work under pressure.  Knowledge of Scandinavia and /or a Scandinavian language a plus.

Part-time Visitor Services Assistant
The American-Scandinavian Foundation seeks a part-time Visitors Services Assistant to welcome visitors to Scandinavia House, provide information about events, programs and exhibitions; keep accurate counts of visitors to Scandinavia House, and maintain a daily log of all activities. The individual will be responsible for sales of tickets to events and programs, and maintaining reservations lists, and may also assist with programs and events held at Scandinavia House.

Minimum 15-20 hours a week until early evening and including Saturdays. Knowledge of and interest in Nordic culture a plus; communication and computer skills a must. Position is available only on an as-needed basis.

Scandinavia House Events Assistant
The American-Scandinavian Foundation seeks a part-time Events Assistant to provide support for events held at Scandinavia House by external institutions.  Responsibilities include meeting with clients to discuss logistics, setting up and breaking down furniture and audio visual equipment, and being on site during events to help with concerns and needs of the clients; ideal job for student in the hospitality field or a recent graduate with a degree in that field. 20-25 hours a week depending on the schedule of events, which may include weekends and evenings.   Prior experience in event rentals or catering, and knowledge of A/V equipment, is preferred but not required.

Part-time Temporary Positions at The Shop @ Scandinavia House

Part-time sales positions in a museum-style shop. Sales/retail experience, art/design knowledge, and fluency in a Scandinavian/Nordic language preferred. Flexible hours.

Also, Receiving/Stock positions. Computer knowledge a must, attention to detail required. Retail experience a plus.
