Open Positions

The American-Scandinavian Foundation is seeking applicants for the following open positions. Please note that for all positions you must be eligible to work in the United States.


MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR

The Membership Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of ASF’s membership programs, including member relations and outreach, planning and handling the processing of renewals and new membership requests and responses, and publication of the quarterly newsletter.  The Membership Coordinator also supports the work of the Director of Development in maximizing charitable giving from the membership and carrying out special events for donors, trustees, and members.

Qualifications for the position:

  • BA required
  • 1-3 years of membership/development experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and skill with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and creatively with members and staff
  • Ability to coordinate and attend periodic member events
  • Knowledge of Scandinavia preferred

Salary:
Commensurate with experience.  Good benefit plan.

SCANDINAVIA HOUSE VISITOR SERVICES ASSISTANT

Part-time Visitors Services Assistant to work with the Manager of Scandinavia House, and in coordination with the Program, Communications, and Membership departments.

Three afternoons a week and occasional evenings.  Responsibilities include greeting visitors to Scandinavia House, providing information to them on exhibitions and programs at Scandinavia House, The American-Scandinavian Foundation, and other Nordic events and organizations.  Assist in selling tickets and memberships to visitors; collect and maintain information on the number and interests of visitors to Scandinavia House. Assist with other Scandinavia House events as necessary.  Knowledge of a Nordic language and/or knowledge of Scandinavia a plus. Please email cover letter and resume to vmcgann@amscan.org. SCANDINAVIA HOUSE EVENTS COORDINATOR

Events Coordinator to promote the use of rooms and spaces at Scandinavia House by external organizations and corporations.

Responsibilities include: scheduling and coordinating space usage; coordinating with caterers and other vendors involved in events; assisting in marketing the space to potential corporate, non-profit and other clients through mailings; developing relationships with hotels and other organizations in the neighborhood; assure daily and hourly renters have reserved resources ready and available; trouble-shoot and address problems with users, equipment, and spaces in coordination with building manager; assist with billing and other correspondence, reporting and administrative duties

Good communication skills important; familiarity with standard audiovisual equipment helpful. An interest in the process of running special events, such as fund raisers, corporate presentations, and Scandinavian focused events is important. Some evening and weekend hours.  A background or interest in Nordic culture helpful. PART-TIME TEMPORARY POSITIONS AT THE SHOP @ SCANDINAVIA HOUSE

Part-time sales positions in a museum-style shop. Sales/retail experience, art/design knowledge, and fluency in a Scandinavian/Nordic language preferred. Flexible hours.

Also, Receiving/Stock positions. Computer knowledge a must, attention to detail required. Retail experience a plus.
