Spring Gala 2018

American-Scandinavian Foundation’s Spring Gala took place on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Metropolitan Club in New York. As always, the Gala was a festive and memorable evening. The focus of this year’s event was a tribute to the Centenary of Icelandic independence and sovereignty, and His Excellency Guðni Th. Jóhannesson (elected 6^th President of Iceland in 2016) attended  as a Special Guest of Honor.

Highlights included the presentation of the ASF Distinguished Public Service Award to The LEGO Group, the Danish company whose products and Scandinavian approach to learning through play has influenced generations of children all over the world. The ASF Niels Poulson Award was presented to Bård Bunaes, a dedicated Trustee since 1997, who has served in a number of capacities over the last twenty years, including as Chairman from 2006-2009, Treasurer since 2012 and Vice-Chairman for Norway.
