WORK PERMIT ASSISTANCE

All trainees, whether placed by themselves or the Foundation, must have work permits before they enter the country in which they will train. Work permits cannot be obtained locally in the country. The application procedure varies from country to country. Once placement is confirmed, the Foundation will provide instructions. The Swedish, Finnish and Danish consulates each charge a fee for processing a residence/and or work permit.

Self-placed trainees create their own internships, usually through contacts in Scandinavia. See our page on Work Opportunities in Scandinavia for ideas on creating an internship. If you arrange both an internship and housing, the Foundation will be happy to help you get the necessary permits. The Foundation will need written confirmation from the Scandinavian firm specifying dates, tasks and responsibilities and the name of the expected supervisor.

APPLICATION FEE

The Foundation requires a non-refundable administrative fee of $50 for your application. Included is a twelve-month student membership.

Contact the Foundation to request an application by phone (212) 879-9779, fax (212) 686-2115, or email: trainscan@amscan.org

Please Note: Due to recent concerns with the US Postal Service, please make sure that anything sent to the Foundation (either by you or by a third party) is clearly marked with a return address. We will automatically discard, unopened, any mail without a return address.
