TEFOL POSITIONS IN FINLAND
Deadline for
application for Teaching English in Finland was March 1. Go to Current Open Positions to see which
opportunities still exist for which ASF is seeking
applicants.
Below is the description of the program for your
reference. We anticipate the application deadline will remain the
same for next year's program. Updated announcements and
applications for 2003 will be available in late September this
year.
One
other thing to keep in mind - if you are able to develop a job in
Scandinavia on your own through contacts at school, home, or
through friends, the Foundation can help you obtain the requisite
work permit. However, the job must be
confirmed and the permit applied for and received prior to
departure from the U.S. If you think you might be able to develop a
job for yourself, by all means get in touch with us. We would need
from 2 to 3 months lead time to help you obtain a
permit.

be notified when your application is complete. The ASF and its
cooperating offices in Scandinavia reserve the right to decline any
application considered inappropriate for placement.
-
If you do not have a passport, you
should apply for one upon accepting a nomination for a training
assignment.

Foundation cannot guarantee TEFOL placements for all applicants but
every effort will be made to arrange an appropriate placement. Once
you have been nominated for a placement, you will be given details,
including location, income, dates, etc., and you will be asked to
confirm your acceptance. We are seeking applicants for whom this
experience is important; once you have accepted a placement, you
will be committed to the Finnish school to which you are assigned
for the full duration of the assignment. Applicants who have not
received an assignment are placed on a waiting list for
consideration in the event of a late job offer or a withdrawal. In
most cases, applicants will be advised of their status by late
spring.
DEPOSIT: A deposit of $200
must be submitted when a Placement Offer is accepted; the deposit
will be fully refunded once you begin your training assignment and
sent to you either in Scandinavia or in the U.S., according to your
specifications.
RESIDENCE PERMITS: All
program participants must have a residence permit
before they enter Finland. The permit cannot be
obtained locally in Finland. Arrangements for the residence permit
are made by the Foundation and its cooperating office in Finland,
the Centre for International Mobility (CIMO). The Foundation will
provide the participants with instructions on how to obtain the
residence permit when the assignment is confirmed. The Finnish
Consulate charges a fee of $62 to process a residence permit, not
including postage.
These training positions are
developed by the Foundation's colleagues at CIMO to promote
international exchange.
