Teach English in Finland

Teach English in Finland gives young Americans an opportunity as a teaching assistant in Finland teaching English as a foreign language in Finnish kindergartens, schools, colleges, private and public institutions. It also gives young Americans a chance to get an insight into Finland'sculture and its people. Positions for academic year 2008-2009 are filled. Unfortunately no paid teaching positions are anticipated for 2009.

Eligibility

  • At least 21 years of age
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Native English Speaker
  • College Junior, College Senior, Graduate Student or within 2 years of graduation
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Relevant Work Experience Given Priority

Fields of Study

Preferably Education, Pre-School Education, English or closely related fields. Applicants with teaching experience receive priority. For some positions, teaching experience is required.

Expenses

  • Airfare and Other Travel Costs - Varies
  • Residence Permit - € 200 plus return postage ($17 for FedEx Overnight) when placed
  • Rent - Approx. $350 per month. Housing will be arranged.

  • ASF Application fee: $50 at time of application at the time of placement
